Kelsey Johnston, 59, of Amarillo died Monday, March 8, 2004. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors Ivy Chapel, 2800 Paramount Blvd. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Mr. Johnston was born Nov. 16, 1944, in Bartlesville, Okla. He was a lifetime resident of Amarillo and attended Amarillo schools. He was an ambassador of laughter and was loved by all who knew him. He was famous for his sense of humor and brightened everyone's day with laughter and baseball statistics. Whether known as "G," "G.J." or "Mean Gene," he was a friend to all and will be truly missed. He was preceded in death by his parents, LeRoy and Vivian Johnston. Survivors include a brother, Bob and wife, Sandy, of Pearland; a brother, Ronnie and wife, Sue, of Springdale, Ark.; a sister, Carolyn Tunstill and husband, David, of Springdale; and his nieces, nephews and many beloved friends. The family suggests memorials be to Faith City Mission, 401 E. Second Ave., Amarillo, TX 79109; or BSA Hospice and Life Enrichment Center.
