Loy Mabel Ellen Loy, 98 of Vinita passed away late Saturday evening March 22, 2003 at Grove Nursing Center. Mrs. Loy was born on August 7, 1904 in Walla Walla, Washington to Herman and Charlotte (Marcy) Flaherty. Mabel graduated High School in Gage, Oklahoma in 1922. She attended Northwestern College and graduated at Central State College in Edmond, where she received her teaching degree. She taught school in May, OK. Maxwell, NM., Oklahoma City and Bartlesville. Mabel retired from teaching in 1967. On June 2, 1930 Mabel was united in marriage to Herbert W. Loy, and from this union they had three children William, Wayne and James. Mabel was a life long member of Christian Science Society of Vinita, Eastern Star, Delta Zeta Sorority, AAUW, Alpha Delta Kappa serving as State President, Lakeside Garden Club of Ketchum serving as President and Scissorettes of Vinita. Her hobbies include china painting and reading. Mabel was preceded in death by both of her parents, husband Herbert Loy son: William Loy and one brother Francis Flaherty. Survivors include; Wayne E. Loy and wife Jeri of Dunnellon, Fl., James R. Loy and wife Jayne of Bella Vista, AR. Daughter in Law's; Maxine Loy of Norman and Cindy Loy of Ft. Lauderdale, Fl. Six grandchildren; Kelly L. Kutey, James R. Loy II, Stacy Vargas, Hollis Loy, Christopher Loy and Matthew Loy. And nine great-grandchildren. The family request that in lieu of flowers donations be made to your choice, Christian Science Society of Vinita, 107 S. Miller, Vinita, OK 74301 or the Senior Citizens Center of Vinita.
