Lykins Fred John Lykins, age 84, of Hamilton, Ohio and formerly of Bartlesville, died on Sunday, December 29, 2002, at Ft. Hamilton Hospital. Born in Cincinnati, Ohio, on October 31, 1918, he was the son of William and Ada (Kennard) Lykins. He was raised in Kentucky and later moved to Bartlesville, Oklahoma. Fred left Bartlesville to join the Army Air Corps. It was during his tour of duty in Watertown, South Dakota, that he met his wife, Dolores A. Buus. They were married in Sedan, Kansas, on May 11, 1946, after his discharge from the Army Air Corps. They took up residence in Bartlesville, Oklahoma where their daughter Pat was born. Later they moved to Hamilton, Ohio, where Fred had taken a job with General Motors Fisher Body automobile plant. Their son David was born shortly after they moved to Hamilton. Fred retired from Fisher Body after thirty years of service in 1979. He was a member of the Westview Church of Christ currently located on Azel Avenue and Dolores and Fred have been members of Mill Road Church of Christ located in Forest Park, Ohio, for the last twenty-five years. Fred was interested in doing things with his family such as scouting, boating and skiing, camping, traveling with their motor home and many other activities. He was an amateur do-it-yourself carpenter and did very well. Mr. Lykins is survived by his wife of over 56 years, Dolores Arline Lykins of Hamilton; daughter Pat Baker and her husband Don of Hamilton; son David Lykins and his wife Cathy of Tampa, Florida; four grandchildren David Baker (who did a great deal towards helping to take care of his grandparents as they have become older) and his wife Melissa, Lori Baker, and Donnie Baker, all of Hamilton, and Julie Sanchez and her husband Jorge of Springhill, Florida; great-grandchild Devon Alexander Kiser of Hamilton; brother, Rollie Lykins of Bartlesville, Oklahoma. Fred was preceded in death by his parents; sister Mary Lydia (Lykins) Hoffman; and brothers Pearl Lykins and Roy Lykins. The funeral services were held at Webb Noonan Funeral Home, Ross Avenue at South "D" Street, Hamilton, at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, January 3, 2003, with Scott Taylor, Minister, and David Stansberry, Minister, officiating.
