Lankford William L. "Bill" Lankford, 78, died Saturday at the Jane Phillips Medical Center. Memorial services will be held at a later date. Cremation arrangements were under the direction of the Stumpff funeral Home. William Loyd Lankford was born on March 16, 1924 at Okemah, Oklahoma the son of William Edward and Frona Jane (Seats) Lankford. He served in the army during WWII and was stationed in Bremenhaven, Germany where he met and married Elfriede C. Dammann in 1948. They moved from Jay to Bartlesville in 1953. Bill worked for the City of Bartlesville in the Water Department until he retired in 1986. Elfriede preceded him in death on January 17, 1992. He then married Nina Wallace on September 14, 1996 at Dewey, Oklahoma. She preceded him in death on October 4, 2001. He was a member of the Liberty Chapel of Praise. Bill is survived by one son William Lankford and his wife Reta of Ochelata, three daughters; Mary Pistorius, Sue Catlin and her husband Bert and Cindy Blackburn and her husband Joe all of Bartlesville, one step- daughter; Lori Welch of Miami, Oklahoma, two step-sons; Dennis Wallace of Manford and Lee Wallace II of Bristow, nine grandchildren; Steven, Lona, Angela, Ricky, Robert, Michael, William, Jeffrey and Joey, nine great grandchildren and one nephew, Delmar Lankford and his wife Sharron of Bartlesville and three great nephews Dale Langford, Ted Langford and Nick Langford.
