All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.html ========================================================================== DORIS MANSFIELD Surnames: MANSFIELD, OLSON, MORGAN, MCCOY NEWS-TIMES, NEWPORT, OR JUNE 27, 2001 A6 Doris Mansfield Doris Mansfield, 79, of South Beach died of natural causes in Newport on June 24, 2001. (LINCOLN CO.) She was born in Bartlesville, (WASHINGTON CO.) Okla., on Sept. 18, 1921 to Mearld Leondus and Nora Catherine Morgan McCoy. She served in the U.S. Navy as a Pharmacist Mate Third Class from 1943- 1945, during World War II. She graduated from Tulsa Central High School in 1939 and from Primary Flight School for private pilot certification and single engine land rating on Aug. 13, 1947. She also graduated as an X-ray technician from St. John's Hospital in Tulsa, Okla., on May 28, 1943. She married Charles Mansfield in Brooklyn, N.Y., on Nov. 29, 1943. He preceded her in death on June 7, 1969. She was an X-ray technician at Pacific Communities Hospital in Newport from 1970-1983. She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi, Laurette Alpha Tau. She enjoyed gardening and reading. Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, John and Anne Mansfield of Silverton and Richard and Leslie Mansfield of St. Helena, Calif.; a daughter and son-in-law, Catherine and Michael Olson of Gleneden Beach; and grandchildren Carlie Mansfield and Jenna Mansfield of Silverton and Jonathan Mansfield of California. Services will be held today (Wednesday) at 10 a.m. at Bateman Funeral Home in Newport. Interment will be in Eureka Cemetery. Memorial contributions are suggested to the National Arbor Day Foundation, 100 Arbor Ave., Nebraska City, Neb. 68410.
