All rights reserved. http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/copyright.htm ========================================================================== City Youth Killed in Accident Tommy D Norton, 15, of 1008 South A St., was fatally injured last night in a two-vehicle accident at Van Buren Ave. and Sixth St. One of the drivers were injured. The youth, son of Walter C Norton, 1008 South A St., and Mrs. Albert Robinson, 314 S Eighth St., died in an ambulance while being rushed to the hospital, police said The accident occured about 10:45 p.m. and was the first traffic fatality of the year. Police determined that Norton was riding in a car driven by Ernest J Hilderbrandt, 31 of 416 E Jackson Ave. The other vehicle was a pickup driven by Leonard L Reeves, 27 of Rt 4. Reeves was driving north after leaving work at the packing plant, police said, Hilderbrandt was going east. Police said both drivers denied at first having a passenger but it was determined that Norton had been with Hilderbrandt earlier. Reeves was taken to a hospital and appeared to have a neck injury. It was not determined if Norton was thrown out of the car and run over. He had a chest injury. Frank Robertson, chief of police, said he was conferring with the county attorney this morning to see if charges would be filed. He said neighter driver had a driver's license when first questioned. The chief also said both vehicles had faulty brakes. Robertson said there was nothing to indicate the vehicles were going at excessive speeds. Norton was born, May 22, 1949, in Arkansas City, the son of Mrs. Chyneth Aline Greenfeather and Walter Clifford Norton. He attended Arkansas City Schools through the eighth grade, and attened the Church of God, 403 North A St. He is survived by his father, Walter Clifford Norton, 1008 South A St.; his mother Mrs Albert Roginson, 314 S Eighth St.; a half-sister, Mrs Effie Fortner of Bartlesville OK; a step brother, Jimmy Ray Jordan of 314 S Eighth St; five stepsisters, Dorothy Jordan, 314 S Eighth St.; Mrs Max Guy, 310 S Eighth St., Mrs Robert Sears and Mrs Orland Mort, both of Wichita, and Mrs Henry LeClair of Marland OK; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. John White, Bartlesville OK, and Mr & Mrs Alec Greenfeather of Skiatook OK and step-grandparents, Mr & Mrs Chalres Jordan of Davenport OK. Funeral Services will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the Grant Elder Funeral Home. Rev John E.
