Mrs. Overacker, Pioneer Resident, Dies...

Mrs. Hestella Overacker, of Ochelata and pioneer settler of Washington
County, Oklahoma, died at 12:30 a.m. Monday, in the hospital where she
had been a patient for the past two weeks.

Mrs. Overacker was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Griffith, state 
pioneers.  She was born near Caney, Kansas on October 6, 1878, and when
a child moved with her parents to Indian Territory settling in the north
east section of Washington County, near Wann, Oklahoma. She and the late
Howard D. Overacker were married November 20, 1896 in Independence, Kansas
after which they moved to a farm north of Dewey, Oklahoma, for a short
residence before to Ochelata, Oklahoma where he was active in farming 
until his death on June 26, 1954.  She was a member of the First Baptist
Holiness Church, Ochelata, Oklahoma.

Survivors include four sons, Joe G. Overacker, Wapato, Washington, Ray 
Overacker, Barnsdall, Oklahoma, Walter Overacker, Caney, Kansas and 
Thomas J. Overacker, of Skiatook, Oklahoma.  Eight daughters, Mrs. Clinton 
Henshall, Bartlesville; Mrs. Sarah Thomas; Mrs. Jim Verden; Mrs. William 
Tennent; Mrs. Dick Newport; Mrs. Charles Castleman; all of Ochelata, Oklahoma.
Mrs. Martin Newport, Wapato, Washington; Mrs. Dan Newport, Union Gap, 
Washington; Mrs. Mary Harlow a sister of Ponca City, Oklahoma; forty-two 
grand children, sixty-five great-grand children, and five great-great-grand
children.

Funeral services are incomplete and will be announced by the Arnold Moore 
Funeral Services.
