Peterson Mrs. Marie Elisabeth (Bussmann) Peterson, 89, retired Vernon Company salesperson died at 1:18 p.m. on Thursday in the Jane Phillips Medical Center. Funeral services for Mrs. Peterson will be held at the graveside in the Neodesha Cemetery, Neodesha, Kansas at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Rev. Marcy Campbell, minister of Neodesha, First Presbyterian Church will officiate. Committal prayers and interment will be directed beside the grave of her husband in the Neodesha Cemetery by the Arnold Moore Funeral Service. Mrs. Peterson will lie in state in the Drawing Rooms of the Arnold Moore funeral residence where friends may call for visitation until she is removed to Neodesha on Tuesday. A native of Neosho County Kansas, Marie Elisabeth Bussmann was born October 19, 1913 in the rural Chanute community. She was the daughter of Ludwig Wilhelm "William" and Louisa (Burghart) Bussmann. She began her education in the rural schools of Neosho County and was graduated with the Senior Class of 1931 from the Chanute High School. She moved to Kansas City, Missouri and was employed as a beautician for several years. She and Albert Randal "Pete" Peterson were married October 9, 1938 at Neodesha. They established their home in Kansas City, Missouri and had various residences during his World War II service years. After returning to Kansas City, he was an instructor for Trans World Airlines and they owned and operated a Hobby Shop in Kansas City, Missouri. They remained active in the Hobby Shop for 25 years. "Pete" Peterson later sold advertising products for the Vernon Company and Marie joined him in sales after closing the Hobby Shop. Mr. Peterson preceded her in death on March 11, 1974 in Kansas City, Missouri. She remained active with the Vernon Company and set sales records during her employ. She was retired in l991 and continued her home there until the Spring of 1999 when she came to Bartlesville to be near her sister and family. Surviving Mrs. Peterson are two nephews, Kenneth Michael "Mike" Clark and wife, Karen, Bartlesville, Okla. and Robert "Bob" Bussmann and wife, Connie, Chanute, Kansas; a niece, Mrs. Sharon Hicks and husband, J.D., Thayer, Kansas; a sister-in-law, Mrs. Ruth Bussmann, Chanute, Kansas and eight great nieces and nephews.
