Rhett died Thursday evening, January 16, 2003, at the Avondale Assisted Living Cottages. Mrs. Romeo was born on November 24, 1918 in Plainfield, New Jersey, the daughter of Rufus Story and Margarita (Frew) Rowland. She is a retired secretary from Phillips Petroleum Company. She was a member of St. Luke's Episcopal Church, served on the Church's Altar Guild and other womens organizations. She was a member of the Mayflower Society, and loved to garden and work outdoors, especially in her son's pecan orchard and around the church property. She is survived by her son, Douglas W. Rhett and his wife Thom "Lien" Rhett of Bartlesville; two granddaughters, Monica N. Rhett-Martin and Dr. Carolyn N. Rhett; two great grandchildren, Logan Rhett Martin and Story Brook Martin; and numerous nieces, nephews, step-children, and step- grandchildren. Her three husbands, Douglas W. Rhett, Sr., Henry Keller, and Fiore V. Romeo, her parents, a brother Rufus Story Rowland, two sisters, Virginia Rowland Clark and Emily Rowland Childers preceded her in death. Funeral services for Mrs. Romeo will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 21, in the sanctuary of St. Luke's Episcopal Church with the Rev. Dr. Lee Stephens officiating. Entombment will be at St. Luke's Episcopal Church under the direction of the Neekamp Funeral Home. Memorials have been established in Mrs. Romeo's name with the Oklahoma Chapter of the Nature Conservancy and the Oklahoma Association for the Blind.
