Speer 84, went to be with his Lord on November 19, 2005. He was joined by his wife, Dorothy, 82, on April 2, 2006. They were long time residents of Tucson, but had recently moved to Copan, Oklahoma to be closer to family. James served in the US Air Force for 25 years. After retirement, he worked as a University of Arizona police officer and owned A-1 Mobile Home Steps for many years. Dorothy was a homemaker. They both spent many years in active lay ministry at Noel Evangelical Methodist Church, Cactus Church of the Nazarene and New LIfe Church of the Nazarene. They served on may local and district boards as well as leading youth, mens and womens ministries. They loved their Lord and served Him diligently. They are survived by their daughter Lynda (Mike) Whitney of Grove, OK and son, Jim (Debra) of Des Plaines, IL. They are also survived by their son- in-law, Wayne Diehl and grandchildren, Jim Crawford, Stephanie (Scott) Genteman, Tracey (Mark) Anderson, Becky (Josh) Smith, Caryn (Jeremy) Greene, Philip (Amanda) Whitney, Jonathan Whitney and Jason Speer. They were preceded in death by their daughter, Marie Elyse Diehl. They also leave behind many loving friends.
