Stevens from 4-16-2003 Examiner Enterprise Ruth Elizabeth Stevens was born on March 25, 1933 in Ithica, Michigan to the union of Joseph Paul Harrod and Pearl Irene Harrod. Ruth's courageous battle with cancer came to an end April 14, 2003 when she was taken home at the age of 70 years. Mrs. Stevens was a doting mother and grandmother who adored her family. Ruth's love for people was only further evidenced by her friendships that have spanned a lifetime. Mrs. Stevens was a woman of strong faith, she was an active member of the Bear Creek United Methodist Church and was proud member of the Chancellor Choir and had served as a Stephen Minister, she was also a former member of the First United Methodist Church in Bartlesville, Oklahoma and had been a member of their choir as well. Ruth always considered herself very blessed when it came to love, she met her husband, Roger Allyn Stevens and married him in December of 1953, Mr. And Mrs. Stevens spent 35 wonderful years as husband and wife. She is preceded in death by her husband, Roger Allyn Stevens, and son, Jeffrey Allyn Stevens. Mrs. Stevens is survived by a loving family which includes her children, Karen Denise Champion and her husband, Kirk, Jerry Lynn McIntyre and her husband, Lee, and Rebecca Allison Stevens; grandchildren, Jason Christopher Champion, Jessica Cyndilu Champion, Jody Nathaniel Champion, Angela Lee Henry and her husband, Justin, Justin Erwin McIntyre, Aree Joy Stevens, Kristen Kae Bower, Cory Anthony Bower, and Ryan Allyn Bower; great-grandchildren, Matthew John, Dakota Levi, and Kevin Lee; sisters, Jo Ann Poyo and her husband, Sergio and Gail Marecek and her husband, Bob; cousin, Monnie Helman; sister-in-law, Elsie Stevens; brother-in-law, Dr. Darryl Stevens, and countless friends. Family and friends will gather for visitation on Wednesday, April 16, 2003 from 6:00pm until 9:00pm at the funeral home. A service to celebrate Ruth's life will be held on Thursday, April 17, 2003 at 3:00pm in the sanctuary of Bear Creek United Methodist Church, 16000 Rippling Water Langham Creek, Texas 77084 (281) 463-2330, with the Reverend Dr. Pat Sparks, officiating. Services at the graveside will be held on Saturday, April 19, 2003 at 11:00am in the gardens of Memorial Park Cemetery in Bartlesville, Oklahoma where Ruth will be laid to rest beside her dear husband.
