Ruth A. Smith

Mrs. Ruth Anna (Postrach) Smith, 87, widow of Mr. Forest Paul Smith and a 
longtime Bartlesville native, died at 2:00 a.m. on Saturday in the Jane 

Phillips Medical Center.
The Mass of the Resurrection will be said at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday in the 
St. John Catholic Church. Father Steve Austin will be the celebrant. The 
Rosary will be said at 7:00 p.m. on Monday in the Memory Chapel of The 
Arnold Moore Funeral Residence. Dedication of the grave and committal 
prayers will be directed in the White Rose Cemetery by The Arnold Moore 
Funeral Service.

Ruth Anna Smith will lie in state in the Drawing Rooms of The Arnold Moore 
Funeral Residence where friends may call for their visitation until she is 
removed to the church for final rites on Tuesday morning.

A native of Oklahoma, Ruth Anna Postrach was born at Collinsville on March 
9, 1915. She was the daughter of the late Charles John and Della Mae 
(Hodges) Postrach. Ruth was reared and received her education in the St. 
John School and Labadie Heights School. She and Forest Paul Smith were 
united in marriage on September 1, 1935 in Bartlesville and they 
established their home here. Mr. Smith was an employee of the local 
Phillips Petroleum Co. and worked in the Research and Development 
Department before he was retired in 1971 from the Aviation Department. Mr. 
Smith preceded her in death on December 20, 1977 in Bartlesville, and Ruth 
has remained a resident of Bartlesville since that time. "Ruthie" worked 
along side her sister and brother-in-law, Lorraine (Postrach) and Melville 
Murphy, in the Murphy's Steak House operation in Bartlesville. She was 
retired in 1993 after 47 years of service, and had continued her residence 
living in retirement in Bartlesville.

Ruth was a member of the St. John Catholic Church.

Surviving are a son, DeLacey F. and Louise (DeLapp) Smith, Bartlesville; a 
daughter, Ms. Judith (Smith) Stephens, Bartlesville; four grandsons, Bryce 
and Kristi Smith, Scott and Amber Smith, Justin and Amanda Stephens and 
Joshua Stephens; three great grandchildren, Quintin, Colten and Bryce 
David Smith; two brothers, Carl Postrach and Earl Postrach, both of 
Bartlesville.

She was preceded in death by her father; mother; husband, Forest Paul 
Smith; a sister, Mrs. Lorraine (Postrach) Murphy; and two brothers, 
Charles Postrach and Everett Postrach.
