Smethers Mrs. Dorothy Lee Smethers, 80, of Bartlesville died unexpectedly on Thursday, May 1, 2003 at her home. Funeral services for Mrs. Smethers will be held at 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, May 6, 2003 at the Adams Blvd. Church of Christ with Mr. Sidney Roper and Mr. Art Henley officiating. Interment will be in the Mount Hope Cemetery at Independence, Kansas under the direction of the Stumpff Funeral Home. Casket escorts will include Bobby Lucas, Denzil Garrison, Don Brown, Dexter Smith, Duain Hogue, and Mitch Miller. Mrs. Smethers was born on August 5, 1922 at Neosho, Missouri to Humphry and Nancy (Lankford) Green. She grew up and received her education at Neosho and she was married to Wayne Smethers at Cordell, Oklahoma on March 24, 1944. Following Mr. Smethers discharge from the military, they made their home at Neosho, Missouri. Mr. Smethers was active as a Church of Christ minister in the Tuttle area and in other areas part-time. They made their homes where Mr. Smethers served as minister of Churches of Christ in Wagoner, Pauls Valley and in Ada until coming to Bartlesville in 1959 as minister of the Limestone Church of Christ until 1978 and then as minister of the Pathfinder Church of Christ in 1979. Mrs. Smethers was employed as the manager of the Notions department at the TG & Y Store and later the AIM Store in Bartlesville until her retirement. Mrs. Smethers is survived by two sons, Alan Smethers of Bartlesville, and Steve Smethers and his wife, Sharold of Bartlesville, two grandchildren, LaRonna Bollig of Independence, Kansas and Cris Crippen of Las Vegas, Nevada, and five great grandchildren, Derek Meier, Kelsie Meier, Kaylee Bollig, Benjamin Crippen, and Josh Bollig.
