Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Westside Church of Christ with Leon Dennis officiating. Havenbrook Funeral Home in Norman is handling arrangements. Mr. Taylor was born May 11, 1925, in Bartlesville. He joined the military and became a Navy Cadet at 17. He received his Naval wings in Jacksonville, Fla., at 18. He was honored by serving in a select group of naval aviators. He graduated with a bachelor of science degree in geology from the University of Oklahoma. He worked for Phillips Petroleum Company in Midland, Texas, for many years. He returned to Norman in 1963 and worked with Reserve National Insurance Company. He later joined his wife and went into the real estate business. They worked together in Norman for over 30 years. They worked together at Don Cies Inc. in Norman the past 11 years until Mr. Taylor died. Mr. Taylor was a faithful member of Westside Church of Christ in Norman. He was affectionately referred to as a G-Dad by his grandchildren. Mr. Taylor was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Reba Taylor; brother, Ralph Taylor Jr.; and sister, Maribelle Ledlie. Mr. Taylor is survived by his wife of 48 years, Nova Taylor of Norman; sons, Todd and wife, Stacy Taylor, of Fort Myers, Fla., and Tye and wife, Shelly Taylor, of Rowlett, Texas; grandchildren, John Robert Taylor II and Carl Anthony Taylor II, both of Fort Myers and Bayley, Bryne and Thaddeus John Taylor, all of Rowlett, Texas; three sisters-in-law; and Kathy Nail of Phoenix, who was loved as if she were Mr. Taylor's daughter.
