Funeral services for Mr. Thompson will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday at the Adams Blvd. Church of Christ with Mr. Art Henley officiating. Interment will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery where military rites will be accorded. Funeral services and interment will be under the direction of the Stumpff Funeral Home. Casket escorts will include Ollie Kocher, Nathan Thompson, Shane Merkey, Delbert McKinney, Ralph Okle, and Johnnie Ray Capps. Honorary casket escorts will include Lee Carter, Paul Jay, Danny Perrier, Melvin Brooks, and Curt Blankenship. Friends who wish may call for visitation at the Stumpff Funeral Home until 11:30 A.M. on Friday. A memorial has been established and those who wish may send their contributions to the Hope Harbor Children's Home, P.O. Box 1047, Claremore, Oklahoma, 74018. Mr. Thompson was born on July 20, 1930 at Swartz, Louisiana to Henry and Manie (Walker) Thompson. He grew up and received his education in Swartz, Louisiana . Mr. Thompson entered the United States Navy and served on a destroyer during the Korean Conflict until receiving his Honorable Discharge. While in the military he met Vova Lee Holman and they were married on May 16, 1951 in Bartlesville. Mr. and Mrs. Thompson made their home in Bartlesville and he was employed with National Zinc Company and the H.C. Price Company. While employed with H.C. Price Company, they made their home in the Price Tower until 1960. Mr. Thompson was employed with the U.S. Bureau of Mines (NIPER) as an operative engineer until his retirement in 1986. He was a member of the Adams Blvd. Church of Christ and he enjoyed hunting and fishing. Mrs. Thompson preceded him in death on November 11, 1997 and he has continued his home in Bartlesville since that time. Mr. Thompson is survived by one son, Jerry Don Thompson and his wife, Patricia of Bartlesville, one daughter, LeDonna Porter and her husband, James of Twin City, Georgia, one brother, Jack Thompson of Swartz, Louisiana, one sister, Lois Butler of Houston, Texas, four grandchildren, Nathan Thompson, Amber Thompson, Robert Shane Merkey, and Kyela LeAnn Thompson, and five great grandchildren, Robert Allen Merkey, Michael Paul Merkey, Vera Nicole Merkey, Zachary Lee Thompson, and Vahlen Wayne Thompson.
