Toombs Roberta Leona (Zeller) Toombs, 87 of Bartlesville, died 2:55a.m. Thursday January 23, 2003 at the Jane Phillips Medical Center. Services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Saturday in the Walker-Brown Chapel with Rev. Ralph Dershem officiating. Committal prayers and entombment will be in the Memorial Park Mausoleum. Arrangements are under the direction of Walker- Brown Funeral Home. Roberta Toombs was born in Oklahoma City on January 11, 1916. She was the daughter of the late Samuel J. Zeller and Elsie M. (Mattheson) Zeller. She received her education and graduated in 1935 from Moore High School at Moore, OK. She and Robert Edward Toombs were married April 11, 1936, at Moore. They moved to Bartlesville in November, 1936. Mrs. Toombs was a homemaker most of her married life. She worked for Jack & Jill Children's Shop for two years and later had one of the first slenderizing salons in Bartlesville, called "Roberta's" which she owned and operated for seven years. Robert worked for Phillips Petroleum Company for 41 years as Supervisor of the Special Services Section of the Administrative Branch of the Exploration & Production Department. After retiring, she & Bob did a lot of traveling and enjoyed life. Robert E. Toombs passed away on August 26, 1993 and Roberta has continued to live here. Mrs. Toombs was an active member of the Virginia Avenue Baptist Church and had been a member for over 55 years. Roberta was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and wonderful friend to many. She will be greatly missed by all her family members and friends. Surviving Mrs. Toombs are 2 daughters, Barbara Dawn Nett & husband David and Glenda Kaye Reed & husband Claude all of Bartlesville; 1 sister, Katherine M. Dyer of Moore; 3 grandchildren, Randall D. Nett of Ramona, Tami (Nett) Martinovich & husband Mark of Chesterfield, MO, and Robyn Leeson of Bartlesville; 6 great-grandchildren, Andrew, Aaron, Alex & Ashley Martinovich of Chesterfield, MO, Cearah Nett & Sami Kaye Leeson, both of Bartlesville, many nieces, nephews and a special friend Dorothea Buchanan. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert of 57 years, her parents, 1 brother Samuel Zeller and 3 great-grandchildren.
