Western and longtime resident of Bartlesville died Thursday morning, February 6, 2003, at her residence. Mrs. Western was born on December 7, 1925 in Tilton, Arkansas, the daughter of Lee and Elizabeth (Brown) Walls. She received her formal education in Tilton. On April 13, 1940, she and Charlie G. Western were united in marriage in Forrest City, Arkansas. They moved to Bartlesville in 1954 where Mr. Western worked for the Bureau of Mines and Mrs. Western worked in the Nursery at the Bartlesville Memorial Hospital. Mr. Western preceded her in death on February 2, 1988. Mrs. Western worked for the Marple's Food Store and the Cardinal Food Store before retiring in 1990. She loved to crochet, quilt, tend to her garden and birds. Mrs. Western is survived by two sons, Charles L. Western and wife Jane of Sand Springs, OK and Stanley G. Western and wife Maria of Bartlesville; two daughters, Elizabeth Ann Walters and husband James of Bartlesville and Cathi S. Western-Reitinger and husband Gerry of Bartlesville; eleven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and special friend, Mary Lue Melrose of Collinsville. Her husband, parents, a granddaughter, Larissa C. Western and great-grandson, Jacob C. Carpenter preceded her in death. Funeral services for Mrs. Western will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday, February 10, in the Colonial Chapel of the Neekamp Funeral Home with Rev. Stan Barron of Harvestime Assembly Church officiating.
