He was born September 3, 1921 to Robert Earl and Hazel Frances (Henry) Woods in Copan, Oklahoma. He was raised in Weleetka, Oklahoma and graduated from Pharoah High School. He attended Murray College, Oklahoma A & M and Harvard. He served in the Army Air Corps in Okinawa as a 1st Lieutenant during World War II. After the war, Jim met Dorothy Mabel McGough in Monroe, Louisiana. They were married on February 7, 1947. He was employed by Hycolog Drilling Co. in Shreveport, Louisiana. The family lived for several years in Canada and then moved to Oklahoma City. He loved his family, playing golf, bowling, and following the stock market. His parents and his wife preceded him in death. He is survived by four children, Woody & Barbara Woods, Carol Ann Cox, Douglas Scott Woods, and Mickey Woods, three grandchildren, Julia Ann & John Costello, Rebecca Lee & Damon Krause, and Mary Margaret Woods, and three great grandchildren Lauren Elise Costello, Lauren Elizabeth Krause, and Ian James Costello, his brothers Jack Woods of Tulsa and Robert Woods of Albuquerque. He has numerous nieces, nephews, and friends who will treasure his wonderful sense of humor and gift of life. He was a longtime member of Memorial Christian Church, where, on Thursday, March 20, 2003 at 10:00 A.M. a memorial service will be held at Memorial Christian Church 1915 N. Meridian. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Memorial Christian Church Fund or Hospice of Oklahoma County.
