Weigl Barbara M. Weigl, 83, died peacefully on July 18, 2003, at Medicalodge in Dewey after an extended illness. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Monday at the Memorial Park Mausoleum with Rev. Chuck Cowell officiating. Graveside services will be directed by the Stumpff Funeral Home. She will be remembered as a loving wife, caring mother and generous friend. Barbara Mary Simmons Weigl was born on July 5, 1920 in Beaver City, Nebraska to Flora Hoag and Leverett B. Simmons. She worked summers at her brother's drug store in Picher, Oklahoma, were she met her future husband, Roger Weigl. She later worked for Consolidated Supply in Picher, Oklahoma and New Departure Company, Bristol, Connecticut, where she married Roger Weigl on May 18, 1944. After her husband's military service in the U.S. Navy, in 1946 they made their home in Bartlesville where they were members of the First United Methodist Church. She is survived by her daughters, Karen L. Short of Boulder, Colorado and Julie A. Beck and husband Ralph of San Antonio, Texas; a sister Marjorie Foss of Carlsbad, New Mexico, grandchildren, Cindy Jarvis and her husband Steve of Brighton, Colorado, Keith Shot of Lafayette, Colorado, Jennifer Short of Newport Beach, California and David Beck of San Antonio, Texas, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Roger Weigl, her son Rodney Weigl and his wife Lisa, her parents, two brothers and two sisters. A memorial has been established with the First United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 1136, Bartlesville, Oklahoma, 74005 for those who wish to donate to Mrs. Weigl's memory.
