Http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.Htm ===================================================================== ::NOT LISTED Caraker, Thelma Gillum Thelma Gillum Caraker Jan. 29, 1918 - June 12, 2007 Thelma Gillum Caraker, 89, passed away in her home at Spruce Gardens with her family and the "Golden Girls" by her side, as well as her precious little adopted dog "Little Blackie". Thelma was born in Cowden, Oklahoma to Tom and Alice Gillum. She met and married Bill Caraker whom she shared 49 precious years with before his untimely passing in 1988. Thelma worked for Pacific Bell as a Traffic Operating Manager (TOM) for 30 years, having retired in 1973. After retiring, she enjoyed 17 years of travel with Bill and many other couples they befriended along the way. Thelma was peceded in death by her husband, Bill; her sisters, Jessie Sheets and Vernie Koegler; her mother and father, Tom and Alice Gillum. Thelma is survived by her brother, Tag Gillum; nieces and nephews, Lesley and Jim Horton, Billy Joe and Laura Sheets, Tom and Kandy Sheets; her cousins, Mary and Leroy Fuller; and special friend, Tom Tierney: and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews. Services will be held at Hillcrest Memorial Chapel, 9101 Kern Canyon Rd., Monday June 18th, at 10:00 a.m. Our heartfelt thanks to Jean Schamblin of Spruce Gardens and all the staff for their over-the-top care of Thelma while living there. You were Thelma's reason for coming home. Thank you JoJo for singing at her bedside every day during her illness. Also, a big thanks to Hoffmann Hospice for their love, care and support of Thelma and her family through these difficult days. Again...without their care, we could not have enjoyed her last days on this earth in peace. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Hoffmann Hospice in Thelma's memory. Fly like an Angel "Sweet Mama Thelma" until we meet again in Heaven.
