He attended school at Dill City, Southern Baptist Seminary, and Oklahoma Baptist University in Shawnee. He married Vera Mae Avery on March 6, 1937 at Cordell Oklahoma. They spent 65 years united in marriage. Martin was a farmer and an auctioneer in the Burns Flat area before becoming a minister. He was ordained a Minister of the Gospel by the Dill City Baptist Church on November 23, 1947. He served as minister for several churches throughout Oklahoma and California until he retired. He was preceded in death by one granddaughter; his parents; and four brothers, N.B., Leo, Shelby, and Eddie Martin. He is survived by his wife, Vera; children, Lary, Elvin, and Ruth, all of Madera, Calf.; seven grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and other relatives and friends. Funeral services where held on April 29 at Jay Chapel in Madera. Burial followed at Arbor Vista Cemetary in Madera.
