Ruth J. Smith Elsdon

Services: Mon., Jan. 7, 10 a.m. Funeral services will be held at 10 
a.m. Monday, January 7, 2002, at Doughty-Calhoun-OMeara Funeral Home 
for Ruth J. Smith Elsdon. Arnold Niemier of Faith Tabernacle will 
officiate with interment following in Union Cemetery. Ruth was born 
January 5, 1929 in Canute, Oklahoma and passed away on January 2, 
2002 in Bakersfield where she had resided since 1945. She was a 
member of Canyon Highland Assembly of God Church and was a member of 
their choir where she enjoyed singing, as this was her way of 
ministering for the Lord. She was a loving wife and mother and will 
be missed by all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her 
husband, Robert L. Smith of Bakersfield and a sister, Ruby Carr of 
Bakersfield. She is survived by her husband, David C. Elsdon; one 
son, Leland E. Smith all of Bakersfield; two sisters and husbands, 
Hazel and Gerald Atchley of Oklahoma, Ann and Don Killgore of Oregon; 
numerous grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 
12-7 p.m. Sunday.
