Obit for Pauline Harper

Funeral services for Pauline Harper will be held Thursday, March 13 at 2:00
p.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Cordell. Interment will follow in
Lawnview Cemetery under the direction of McClure Funeral Home. 

Pauline was born October 13, 1918 at Clinton, Oklahoma, to Burt C. and Lillian
McDonald Miller. At the age of six, she moved with her parents from southeast of
Cordell into town. 

Pauline graduated from Cordell High School in 1936 and attended Oklahoma A
and M, now OSU. She graduated in 1940 with a degree in Home Economics
Education. She then began her teaching career in Weynoka. 

On June 28, 1942, she married Roy Jackson (Jack) Harper, in Cordell. They both
taught in Mooreland, Oklahoma for five years. In 1947, they moved to Cordell
and soon became active in the community. 

Pauline rejoined the Cordell United Methodist, where she had grown up and
continued her service to the church throughout her life. She had been Sunday
School secretary for over 50 years and was on a variety of Methodist boards and
commissions at the local, district and state level. 

In the 1950's, Pauline was an active member and leader for the local Progressive
Mother's Club and in 1958-59, was the State President of Mother's Clubs. 

Pauline was a member of the Eastern Star and Past Matrons and also served as
Mother Advisor of the Rainbow Girls. She was a member of the Cordell Chamber
of Commerce for 55 years and the Cordell Library Board for almost fifty years.
She also served on the State Library Board. 

After her family was grown, Pauline continued her teaching career at the
Caddo/Kiowa Vocational Technical Center at Ft. Cobb. 

For the past twenty years, Pauline has volunteered her time at the Cordell
Senior Citizens, where she served on the board and daily enjoyed the fellowship
of friends. 

Pauline was preceded in death by Jack, her husband of over 59 years. 

She is survived by a son, Jackie and wife Trecia, of Cordell; a daughter, Judy and
husband John Morris of Arlington, Texas; four grandchildren, Kyle Harper of
Cordell, Julie Harper of Lubbock, Texas, Janna Morris of Waco, Texas and Joel
Morris of Amarillo; a brother-in-law, Frank Harper and wife Ethel of Cordell;
nieces and nephew, Denise Goss, Mary Schellberg and Leo Battle of California;
several cousins and a host of friends. 

The family suggests that memorials be made to the Cordell Public Library, 208
S. College, the Cordell Senior Citizen's Center through The First State Bank of
Keys, Cordell Branch, 200 N. College Street, Cordell, OK 73632, or a charity of
choice.
