All rights reserved http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ***************************************************** Joe Kent, age 70 of Sentinel, died Sunday, Oct. 22, 2006. Memorial services were held Wednesday afternoon in the Sentinel Cemetery. He was born on May 23, 1936 in Frederick, the son of Russell and Bernice Kent.A 1953 graduate of Frederick High School, he played football for the Bombers.In 1955 he married Linda Lea Wilcox, and they continued to live in Frederick where he worked as a butcher in a local grocery store. From there he moved to Elk City where he worked for Miracle Laboratories. They continued to live there until 1973 when they moved to Sentinel and he began his career in farming, raising wheat, cotton, alfalfa, cattle, sheep, goats, etc. Later, after retiring, he raised pecan trees. Preceding him in death, along with his parents, was a brother, William “Bill” Kent. Arrangements were under the direction of the Jack Loftiss Funeral Home of Sentinel. Survivors include daughters, Jolyna Abernathy and her husband, Randy, of Cordell, Gina Hurley and her husband, Mike, of Irvine, Calif., Lisa Proffitt and her husband, Monty, of Cordell; a brother, Charlie Kent of Frederick; sisters, Mary Frances Miller of Glen Ellen, Calif., Virginia Sasser and her husband, Eldon, of Sequim, Wash.; grandchildren, Amanda Conway of Weatherford, Mason Proffitt of Weatherford, Carissa Williams of Edmond, Bobby Abernathy and Kent Abernathy of Cordell; and great grandchildren, Hunter Newton and Kennan Conway.
