Interment was followed in the Berlin Cemetery, Berlin, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma under the direction of Martin Funeral Home of Elk City. Iva Pearl (Granny) Martin was born October 4, 1919 at Canute, Oklahoma to Orvil and Iva (Kimmel) Rowlan and passed away Friday, July 13, 2007 at Amarillo, Texas at the age of 87. She resided with her family at Canute where she graduated from high school with the distinction of being the youngest person in the school history to graduate at the age of 15. She was married to Charles Edward Martin on November 22, 1936 at Canute and resided north of Elk City with her husband and 3 children until 1949. She then moved to Cheyenne, Oklahoma. In 1950, they moved to a farm NW of Sayre, Oklahoma where she resided until 2004 when she moved to Amarillo, Texas following a stroke. She was a member of the Church of Christ, a farm wife and a homemaker. She was well knoiwn for her outstanding cooking, hard work and especially her devotion to her family and friends. Grandkids always wanted to go to "Granny's House". She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a younger sister, Etta Faye Rowlan, a brother, Ray Rowlan, a son-in-law Gordon Kirk and two infant granddaughters. She is survived by one daughter Ella Pearl Kirk, of Cheyenne, Oklahoma; 2 sons Charles Martin and his wife, June and Johnny Martin and his wife, Judi, of Amarillo, Texas; one sister Dorothy Whittenberg, Elk City, Oklahoma; 2 brothers Rev. Roy Rowlan, of Canute, Oklahoma, and Orvil Rowlan Jr., of Mannford, Oklahoma; 14 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.
