                        Leonard C. (L.C.) Murphy

Funeral services for Leonard C. (L.C.) Murphy, 79, was held November 30, 2002 in
the First Baptist Church of Foss with Rev. Dean Derieg officiating. Burial
followed in the Foss Cemetery under the direction of the Stanley Lee Funeral
Home.

He died Wednesday, November 27, 2002, at the Great Plains Regional Medical
Center in Elk City.

Leonard Cameron Murphy was born February 9, 1923 in Eufaula to Ed and Alta “Sam”
Murphy. He was raised in Foss and graduated from Foss High School in 1941.

He married Estiline Morgan on June 15, 1946 in Foss.

He joined the U.S. Air Force and served for more than 20 years, retiring in 1964
at the rank of Senior Master Sergeant. At the conclusion of his military career
he returned home to serve with the U.S. Postal Service and later retired. He was
also the Charter Director of Washita 2000.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Foss, the V.F.W., the American
Legion, Washita County's Who's Who Association, served as president for the Foss
Lake Association, was a longtime board of trustee member for the City of Foss,
was a member of the Foss Volunteer Fire Department, was active in city, county
and state politics, was voted County Volunteer of the Year and he was honored
with numerous honors and awards while in the military. He was also the Charter
Director of Washita 2000.

He is survived by his wife of the home; a son Michael Clark and his wife Kimi of
Foss; two grandsons, Gene and Kenneth Clark both of the Oklahoma City area; two
great granddaughters, Alexis Clark and Kailey Clark of Oklahoma City; two
sisters, Bonnie Ihle of Clinton and Reba Dean Justice of Dallas; a brother
William Henson of Alamogordo, New Mexico and a host of nieces and nephews.
