Evonne Neuenschwander was born in Canute, OK on Jan. 7, 1932 to the Rev, and Mrs. Evert Striegel. She married Dwight Neuenschwander on May 28, 1950 and was blessed with three children: Ed, Charles, who died in infancy, and Nancy. She passed to her eternal reward on Friday, Jan. 17, 2003. She is survived by her husband, Dwight; two children, Ed and Nancy; nine grandchildren: Charles and Steven, sons of Ed and Rhonda, of Piedmont, OK; Mandy, Josh, Heather, Kyle, Hannah, Alex and Aaron, children of Nancy and Mike Howie of Bradleyville, MO and one great grandson, Matthew, son of Mandy and Simon Hupp of Bradleyville. Evonne is also survived by a niece, Peggy Ward of Norman, OK, two nephews, Jim Music of Cushing, OK and Mike Striegel of Guthrie, OK and a host of relatives and friends. She was a member of the Church of the Nazarene and gave her life to her calling, Music. She taught piano for many years and founded the department of music at Nazarene Bible College in Colorado Springs. Evonne authored the piano pedagogy three-volume series, Creative Hymn Playing. She traveled extensively throughout the United States, Canada and various world areas: Australia, New Zealand, Samoa and the Caribbean, conducting Creative Hymn Playing piano seminars. She was a wonderful wife, loving mother and grandmother. She will be greatly missed by her family and a host of friends. Viewing will be at Mercer- Adams Funeral Home, Bethany, OK on Monday with family visitation from 7:00 - 9:00 PM. Funeral services will be held at Bethany First Church of the Nazarene, Bethany, OK at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2003 with interment at I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Norman, OK.
