Http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.Htm ===================================================================== ::NOT LISTED The Bakersfield Californian Lois F Nowlin (Beckham) 12-22-07 4-15-01 Memorial services will be held at the Peters Funeral Home Chapel at 11 a.m., Friday, April 20, 2001 for Lois Isabel Nowlin, age 93 of Shafter who passed away April 15, 2001 in Bakersfield. Lois was born in Rocky, Oklahoma. She grew up in this small dry land farming community and at the age of twenty married Mahon Beckham. She began college at Oklahoma University in Norman but hard times forced her to drop out and go to work. During World War II she worked for Douglas Aircraft and help construct DC-3 airplanes at Tinker Air Force Base in Oklahoma City. She and Mahon moved to Shafter in 1950 where she worked for Dr. Revel till 1960. During these years she went to night school and earned a teaching degree. She began a teaching career in the elementary grades and retired in 1971. Mahon passed away in 1983 and in 1986 Lois married a childhood beau, Earl Nowlin, who reappeared in her life after 55 years. At the time of their marriage she was 79 and he was 82. They had a wonderful 7 year marriage and lived in Albuquerque, NM till Earl passed away in 1994. Lois returned to Shafter to be near her children. Lois is survived by her two children, William Beckham and wife Suzanne, and Mary Anne Patrick and her husband Bill. She has two grandchildren, Michael Patrick and wife Judy, and Lois Margaret Swanbeck and husband Robert. There are 3 great grandchildren, Kayley Patrick, Ryan Patrick and Eric Strand and Cindy. Lois was a life-long member of the United Methodist Church. The family wishes to thank the staff at Beverly Manor for their excellent nursing skills and her physician William Gilli for his endless patience.
