Http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.Htm ===================================================================== ::Wasco Cemetery--Wasco CA Larry Douglas Reiswig went to be with the Lord on Saturday, November 8, 2008 after suffering with Alzheimer's Disease for many years. Larry was 62 years old. He was born in Cordell, Oklahoma on January 18, 1946 to Kenneth and Irene Reiswig. He was one of 5 children in the Reiswig home and spent the majority of his childhood in Wasco, California. Larry graduated from Wasco High School in 1964 and went on to Bakersfield College and then to the University of California at Berkeley where he earned his Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering. Shortly after his graduation from college he went to work for the United States Postal Service where he worked until his retirement. The joy of Larry's life was his family. His four children received much of his attention. He was known to take scientific experiments to his children's classrooms and was even the "room father" for Timothy's 2nd grade class. He could be seen at all of Daniel and Timothy's ball games whether it was football or baseball. When Sandra and Cassie tried their hands at Volleyball, Larry was there to encourage and lend a hand with a little instruction and support. Larry was very competitive in his own right and could often be seen on the tennis courts in Wasco or playing basketball with his brothers. He is probably best known for his competitive nature when it came to playing cards. There were no card games that Larry couldn't master. His heroes in life were Hopalong Cassidy, Johnny Carson and Pat Robertson. Larry will be greatly missed by his children: Sandie Gomez of Bakersfield, Daniel Reiswig and wife, Cori, of Lake Isabella, Timothy Reiswig and wife, Kristina of Suffolk, VA and his youngest, Cassie Reiswig of Bakersfield. He also leaves seven grandchildren: Carly and Kaitlyn Bethel, Jacob Gomez, and Zachary, Ryan, Joshua and Caleb Reiswig. Other surviving family includes his mother, Irene Reiswig; sister, Lynn McKnight and husband, Rory; Timothy Reiswig of Bolivia; John and Patty Reiswig; nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles; and his lifelong friend, Wayne Martindale and wife, Vaneta of Wheaton, IL. Preceding him in death are his brother, Gregory Reiswig and father, Kenneth Reiswig. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, November 15, 2008, at the Wasco Cemetery on Hwy. 46 in Wasco, CA, at 11:00 a.m., with a casual gathering of family and friends following at 2510 Wheeler St. in Bakersfield, CA. Donations may be made in Larry's honor to Optimal Hospice of Bakersfield, or any Alzheimer's Foundation or research center. The family is eternally grateful to the sensitive caregivers of Silver Crest Manor and the Optimal Staff for the loving care that Larry received in his last year of life.
