Http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.Htm ===================================================================== ::NOT LISTED Roberts, Bertie Mae Bertie Mae Roberts Dec. 11, 1929-May 20, 2007 A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Friday, May 25, at Mish Funeral Home, 120 Minner Ave, for Bertie Roberts. Pastor John May of Rio Bravo Valley Baptist Church will officiate. A gathering at Standard Park will begin immediately after the service for a time of sharing and remembering. Bertie went home to the Lord on May 20, after a sudden illness. Born Bertie Mae Thomason to Jefferson Pinkney Thomason and Jossie (Daniels) Thomason in Sentinel Oklahoma, she was the first of five children. She was preceded in death by her brother, Jeff Jr; sister, Lorene, and parents, Jeff and Jossie. Bertie is survived by 2 siblings, Jossie Fay Van Horn of Boron, CA ,and Jack Thomason of La Puente, CA. Bertie is survived by four sons: Jim Cobbs of Arroyo Grande; Larry Cobbs of Pismo Beach, CA; Don Cobbs of Stigler, OK and Lonnie Cobbs of Bakersfield. Also sharing Bertie's memory are ten grandchildren and fifteen great- grandchildren. In 1946, when Bertie was in her mid-teens, her entire family packed all of their belongings and boarded a train heading for California. They arrived in Arvin, CA where they found work. Bertie attended Bakersfield High School and later on she attended Bakersfield College. She became a pre-school teacher, and became friends with Marty, who through thick and thin stayed friends for over 42 years. In her fifty-five years living in Kern County, she also worked as a social worker. Her hobbies included sewing and almost any kind of craft and art work. In her younger years, she loved photography and learned to develop her own black and white photos.
