All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ===================================================================== ::Cremated Thomas Quentin Weatherall 1919-2007 Thomas Quentin Weatherall passed away at his home on Sunday morning, February 4, 2007 after a six-month illness. Tom has been enjoying life in Santa Maria since retiring here in 1983. This followed a forty year career in the radio broadcasting industry where he specialized in maintenance and design of high-power radio transmission installations. He was born in Havana, Arkansas in 1919, son of John Edger Weatherall and Edna Alene (Welch) Weatherall, who later became long-time residents of Santa Maria. His youth was spent in Oklahoma where he graduated in 1936 from Rocky High School, which is in the Cordell area. At this time, he became interested in all things electrical. As a result, he went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in electronic engineering from Pacific States University, followed by additional studies in advanced mathematics and physics at the University of Southern California after his family relocated to California. In 1966 he was granted a State of California license and registration as a Professional Electrical Engineer. He was employed in the broadcast industry until retirement in 1982 and was a life member of the IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers), along with the IBEW (International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers). Enjoying suburban life in the Los Angeles area, he was a member of Town Hall of California and Friends of the Huntington Library. In Santa Maria he belonged to the Central Coast Astronomical Society, the La Purisima branch of the National Audubon Society, the Sierra Club and the Santa Maria Valley Humane Society. He is survived by his wife Janet, his brother James L. Weatherall, nephew Jason Weatherall and niece Karen (Weatherall) Guerrero all of Santa Maria, also niece Sharon (Weatherall) Galey of Leadville, Colorado, nephews Larry Weatherall of Virginia Beach, Virginia and Michael Weatherall of Seattle, Washington, plus children and grandchildren of Larry, Sharon and Karen and numerous esteemed cousins. His keen mind, sustaining good nature and generosity of spirit shall be missed by all who knew him and never forgotten. Donations in his name if desired, may be made to any of the above- mentioned organizations or to one of your choice. Cremation was requested with private inurnment at a later date.
