All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ===================================================================== ::Rose Hill Cemetery--OKC OK Young, Thomas Edward (Tom) Thomas (Tom) Edward Young was born on March 27, 1930 in Burns Flat Oklahoma to Arthur Lee Young and Mary Lucinda Barham. He was unexpectedly taken from us on August 18, 2005 to be with his lord and savior Jesus Christ. Tommy moved to Oklahoma City in 1948 where he met his beloved wife Marcia Jeanne Hightower. They were married on Oct. 6th 1951. Shortly afterwards he was called to duty in the Korean War where he was promoted rapidly to Sergeant 1st class and received numerous medals while fighting on the front lines. Following the war he went into business for himself as a framing carpenter and transitioned into a homebuilder building his 1st home in 1960. He received numerous awards and recognitions from the Oklahoma City Home Builders Association and served as President of the North Oklahoma City Home Builders Association for a few years during his career. He was highly regarded by many of his associates and his contractors that worked for him over the many years. Not only was homebuilding his passion, but his main joy in life was his wonderful wife, his only son Craig P. Young, 51 who is also a homebuilder in Oklahoma City where he resides. And his two grandsons: Ryan Young, a senior at the University of Oklahoma and Christopher Young a sophomore, also at University of Oklahoma and former daughter-in-law Rhonda Young- Laird. He enjoyed many sports and was an avid golfer but moreover he really enjoyed coaching and mentoring his grandsons in various sports. Of 13 children he is also survived by four sisters; Mattie Sullivan, Hazel Carpenter, Pauline Coley, and Lillian Goff. Services will be at 11 A.M. Tuesday August 23rd at Vondel L Smith & Son North Colonial Chapel. Officiating will be Dr. Ray Dykes. Burial will be at Rose Hill Cemetery. Those wishing to make a memorial gift in lieu of flowers may send contributions to a private memorial for Thomas E.
