Alva Review Courier 02 Jan 2004 Wanda Faye Melkus, 80, Medicine Lodge, Kan. Wanda Faye Melkus, 80, was born Sept. 10, 1923, in Woods County, Okla., the daughter of Dennis and Martha (Tidwell) Reed, and died Dec. 31, 2003, at Via Christi Medical Center, St. Francis Campus, Wichita, Kan. She married Carl Melkus on Nov 23, 1940, at Alva. Her husband died March 12, 1992. She is survived by a son, Stanley Percival of Helena, Mont.; three daughters, Barbara Geary of Medicine Lodge, Kan., Betty Jo Mitchell of Medicine Lodge, Kan., and Linda Waller of St. John, Kan.; two brothers, Dewey Reed of Kiowa, Kan., and Sonny Reed of Pierre, S.D.; a sister, Margie King of Wilder, Idaho; 14 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Vona Percival, and brothers, Floyd and Richard Reed. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Sat., Jan. 3, at the Community Bible Fellowship Church in Medicine Lodge, Kan., with Pastor Dwain Richert officiating. Interment will be in the Highland Cemetery at Medicine Lodge. Larrison Funeral Home of Medicine Lodge is in charge of arrangements.
