Richard "Rick" Pitts, age 54, of Woodbridge, Virginia, died November 3, 2003 at Northern Virginia Community Hospital, Arlington, Virginia. Rick was born in Alva and grew up there and in central Nebraska. He completed ROTC as a Distinguished Military Graduate of the University of Nebraska at Kearney, Nebraska and spent 26 years on active duty, retiring as a Colonel in the U.S. Army. Rick was currently working at USASAC. Rick will be fondly remembered by family and friends for his keen sense of humor, his love for reading, football and various sports activities. Rick was preceded in death by his parents, Russell and Mary Trekell. Survivors include his loving wife of 36 years, Ada Pitts; three daughters, SiNae Pitts of New York City, New York; Michelle Simkonis and her husband Paul of Fredericksburg, Virginia; Sarah Pitts of Woodbridge, Virginia; one son, Richard Pitts and his wife Elizabeth of Winston-Salem, North Carolina; and one grandson, Paul Matthew Simkonis. Interment will occur at the Arlington National Cemetery on January 9, 2004 at 11 a.m..
