All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== ::Alva Municipal Cemetery--Alva OK Alva Courier Review 3 Dec 2003 Mary Deliah Robinson, 79, Alva Funeral Services for Mary Deliah Robinson, 79, will be held at the Wharton Funeral Chapel Thursday, December 4, 2003, at 2 p.m. with Reverend John Clapp, pastor Alva Bible Baptist Church, officiating. Interment is in the Alva Municipal Cemetery. Wharton Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements. Mary Deliah, daughter of Lucy (Elliott) and General D. Robinson was born on Aug. 14, 1924 in Blue Ridge Holler, Ky. She was the 16th child of 17 brothers and sisters. She passed away at the Alva Share Medical Center on Dec. 2, 2003. She attended school in a rural one-room schoolhouse in Blue Ridge Holler, Ky. While going to school she helped her parents on the farm by milking cows and attending the garden. Later she moved around working at different jobs and during WWII in a airplane factory in Florida. Miss Robinson was married to Alfred Scriven in Indio, Calif. in 1960. After her marriage she worked in restaurants in and around Palm Desert, Calif. She also drove catering trucks to many construction sites around the area. She retired in 1979, and a year later moved to Alva to make her home. She attended the Cathedral City Baptist Church for many years. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Artie Hicks on Feb. 6, 1996 and Katie Kanive on July 18, 1997 and many other brothers and sisters. She is survived by her daughter Diana and her husband Raymond Cheslic of Alva, six grandchildren, Jennifer Brumley of Audrey, Texas, Tiffani and her husband Travis Dyer of Enid, Jeffrey, Cory and Tyler Cheslic and Pam Coffman all of Alva; five great grandchildren, Alena Brumley, Desiree and Justice Dyer, Zachary and Erica Cheslic; a number of nieces nephews and other relatives and friends.
