All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== Amarillo Globe News 31 Jul 1997 Eugene Sullivan DALHART - Eugene "Sully" Sullivan, 74, died Monday, July 28, 1997. Services will be at 10 a.m. today in Central United Methodist Church with James Edwards, minister of Lakeview United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery by Hass Funeral Home Inc. Mr. Sullivan was born and raised in Queens, N.Y. After graduating from high school in Queens, he played for a New York Giants baseball farm team. He was injured while serving in the Army Air Corps during World War II. He attended Northwestern State University in Oklahoma and graduated with a degree in education. He began teaching in Nevada and later taught in Cherokee, Okla. Mr. Sullivan married Elsie Hyer in 1948 at Alva, Okla. They moved to Dalhart in 1958. He taught school in Dalhart and was principal at Kella Hill and Dalhart High School before retiring in 1978. After he retired, he spent his winters in Florida and taught school there. He was a member of the Retired Teachers Association. Survivors include his wife; a son, Patrick Sullivan of Austin; a daughter, Kathryn Robertson of Brandon, Miss.; and a brother, Phil Sullivan of West Palm Beach, Fla.
