Simpson, Thelma Melvina May 3, 1911 < Feb. 12, 2007 FAIRFIELD < Thelma Simpson, 95, died Monday, Feb. 12, 2007, after a long illness. She was married to the late Wesley Simpson. They made their home in Avard, Okla., for several years while Wesley taught science and music in the local schools. In 1942, the family moved to Suisun City where Wesley was employed by the U.S. Navy at the Point Laboratory at Mare Island. Thelma was a homemaker and became an active member of the community. In 1950, the family moved to Fairfield. Thelma is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Ardath and Charlie Wood; grandchildren, Erica and Heidi Arnold, and Patricia and Chris Conklin; stepgrandchildren, Christine Wood, and Carol and Ron Garcia; and great-grandchildren, Hannah and Jake Arnold, and Leita and Isabell Conklin. Thelma was preceded in death by her sisters, Rosalee Anderson, Dixie Yates and Marie Hugaboom; and brothers, Albert and Overton Smith. Thelma was blessed with nieces and nephews and many long time family friends. A memorial service for Thelma will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 16, 2007, at the Suisun-Fairfield Congregational Church with the Rev. Jerry De Long officiating. Burial will be private. Memorial donations may be made to the Suisun-Fairfield Congregational Church in Suisun City or to a charity of your choice. Arrangements by Bryan-Braker Funeral Home, 425-4697.
