Babcock, 89, Freedom Mildred Elvira Babcock, 89, daughter of Edna Belle (Payton) and William Elwood (Doc) Lile, was born near Ellendale, Okla., on Nov. 18, 1916. She passed away at the Oklahoma Heart Hospital in Oklahoma City on Dec. 24, 2005. Mrs. Babcock was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Lenora Land;, and two brothers, Harold and Glen. Mildred is survived by her daughter and her husband Carol and David Wolgamott of Hardtner, Kan.; two sons, W.P. (Pat) and his wife Patricia of Pueblo, Colo., and Lyle Baker of Woodward; six grandchildren and their spouses: Shelley and Jeff Colborn of Viola, Kan.; Charla Chegwidden of Alva; Durwin and Tami Wolgamott of South Hutchinson, Kan.; Jay Babcock of Lake Tahoe, Calif.; Mike Protopapos of Los Angeles, Calif.; and Becky and Craig McCarty of Denver, Colo.; eight great grandchildren: Josh and Shelby Colborn, Jessica and Chonda Chegwidden, Zach and Aubrie VanSteenburg and Mitch and Dillon McCarty. She is also survived by three sisters, Bonnie Castor of St. Louis, Mo., Thurlene and Rod Quainton of Greenville, S.C., and Laketa Christoferson of Salt Lake City, Utah; a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Dec. 30 at the Freedom United Methodist Church with Reverend Carolyn Murrow, pastor, officiating. Interment will be in the Freedom Cemetery. Wharton Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
