All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ===================================================================== ::Memory Gardens Cemetery Mausoleum--Canyon TX Jess Walter Brewer BUSHLAND - Jess Walter Brewer, 84, died Wednesday, Oct. 27, 2004, in Amarillo. Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in Memory Gardens Cemetery Mausoleum with the Rev. Donna Johnston, associate pastor of First United Methodist Church of Canyon, officiating. Arrangements are by Brooks Funeral Directors of Canyon. Mr. Brewer was born May 30, 1920, in Cederdale, Okla., to Solan and Laura Choate Brewer. He attended VA Agriculture College and married Naoma Howeth in Fairview, Okla., in 1939. He served in the Marine Corps during World War II and was in the third wave to invade Iwo Jima. He received the Purple Heart. He farmed and ranched in Randall County since 1958. He was preceded in death by his wife in 2003; and nine brothers and sisters. Survivors include a daughter, Vynona Gale Goode and husband, Roy, of Bushland; four sons, Tom Brewer of Amarillo, Wayne Brewer of Bushland, Don Brewer of Hereford and Hershel Brewer and wife, Patricia, of Santa Barbara, Calif.; a brother, Don Wilcox of Amarillo; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to a favorite charity; or Veterans Affairs Health Care System, 6010 W. Amarillo Blvd., Amarillo, TX 79106.
