Devron Coal Ortiz Devron Coal Ortiz, 6, of Canyon died Wednesday, May 28, 2003, in Amarillo. Memorial services will be at 4 p.m. Sunday in Southwest Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Amarillo with Randy Letcher officiating. Private burial will be in Dreamland Cemetery by Brooks Funeral Directors. Devron was a first grader at Crestview Elementary School in Canyon. He was born July 27, 1996, in Shattuck, Okla. The family is from Guymon, Okla., and previously resided in Woodward, Okla. Devron was quite a character, a sweet and happy child who loved animals, especially puppies. He loved to make and fly airplanes, go boating with his parents and fishing with his dad. He also loved going on the door to door ministry with his parents. Devron was one of the Jehovah's Witnesses and went to the Kingdom Hall in Canyon. The family wishes to thank the community, the many, many friends who lent their support at this difficult time and the many, many family members and friends who loved him very much. Although we will miss him so much, we are eager to see him again soon in Paradise on Earth. Survivors include his parents, Jim and Emma Ortiz of Canyon; his big brother, Jimmy Ray Ortiz of Ulysses, Kan.; and his grandparents, Mary and Jose Gutierrez and Jim and Judy Ortiz, all of Guymon, and Bill Padilla of Canyon. The family suggests memorials be to Devron Coal Ortiz Memorial Fund, in care of Plains National Bank, 1901 Fourth Ave., Canyon, TX 79015.
