All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ===================================================================== ::Rose Hill Cemetery--OKC OK Hornsby, Viola Funeral services for Viola Hornsby, 74 year old former Woodward resident, will be Tuesday, July 13 at 2:00 P.M. in the Garden Chapel of Johnson's Good Samaritan Funeral Service in Woodward. Burial will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery northeast of Laverne. Viola Louise Hornsby was born November 16, 1929 near Laverne, Oklahoma to Clark and Myrtle (Washburn) Hicks. She attended the Mt. Pleasant schoolhouse and graduated from the Laverne High School in 1947. In 1954 she graduated from the University of Oklahoma School of Nursing and was active in the nursing profession until 1992, while residing in Guymon, Okahoma, the greater Chicago, Illinois area, and in Woodward. On October 1, 1960 she was married to Dennis Hornsby in Chicago, Illinois. In 1983 she moved with her children to Woodward where she worked at the Woodward Hospital until 1992. For the past seven years she has been in nursing home care in Tulsa and Oklahoma City. Mrs. Hornsby died July 10, 2004 at the Manor Care Nursing Home in Oklahoma City. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Ralph, and a sister, Olive. She is survived by a son and his wife, Gary and Janet Hornsby of Oklahoma City; a daughter and her husband, Denise and Michael Gormish of Redwood City, California; three granddaughters, Audrey Hornsby; Jennifer Gormish and Jaclynn Gormish; a brother, Carl Hicks of McPherson, Kansas; three sisters, Irene Moody of Pauls Valley, Oklahoma, Nellie Baker of Laverne, Oklahoma and Elaine Winters of Nortonville, Kansas; and numerous cherished family members.
