Born in Woodward County, Okla., he was a Mid-Valley resident for more than 50 years. He worked as a carpenter for many years, was a real estate agent for more than 10 years and owned and operated the Country Smorgy in Oroville for more than 25 years. Previously he was a firefighter in the Pasadena Fire Department for 14 years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Gridley, a 50-year member and past master of the North Butte Masonic Lodge No. 230, Free and Accepted Mason of Gridley and a recipient of the Hiram Award. In addition, he was a member and past worthy patron of Amapola- Vernon-Lyman Chapter No. 35, Order of Eastern Star, member of the Sons of the American Revolution; and former member of the Biggs Lions Club. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Survivors includes a daughter, Kay Vise of Meridian; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, LaVonne Ketchum; a son, Keith Ketchum; two sisters, Elsie Bassett and Opal Akina; and a grandson. Donations may be made to the Shriners Hospital and left in care of Gridley-Block Funeral Chapel in Gridley. Services: Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Gridley-Block Funeral Chapel in Gridley. A service is at 10 a.m. Thursday at the First Baptist Church, 100 Vermont St., Gridley.
