All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ===================================================================== ::Higgins Cemetery--Higgins TX Dwight Beecher McNamee HIGGINS - Dwight Beecher McNamee, 101, died Friday, Dec. 27, 1996. Services were at 2 p.m. Sunday in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Clifford Baze officiating. Burial was in Higgins Cemetery by Mason Funeral Home. Mr. McNamee was born in Merriman, Neb., where he attended elementary school and completed the ninth grade. He moved to Oklahoma and became the depot agent at Quinlan, Okla. He then served in the Army during World War II. He returned to Oklahoma and worked as a depot agent at Harmon, Okla., then Amarillo and Follett for 23 years. He then became a rural mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service. He carried the route out of Higgins for 23 years, retiring in 1960. He was a member of Higgins Masonic Lodge and American Legion. He enjoyed the outdoors and fishing. He married Blanche Vom Hoff in 1938 at Beaver, Okla. Survivors include his wife; and a daughter, Anita Darlene McNamee Childress of Houston. The family requests memorials be to V.A. Nursing Care Home Care Center, 6010 Amarillo Blvd. West, Amarillo, Texas 79106.
