Serna, 84, of Topeka, passed away late Monday, May 14, 2007 at Midland Hospice . Mrs. Serna was employed in the Housekeeping Department of Memorial Hospital until her retirement. She was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Church and the Mijuel Hidalgo Club. She was born in Woodward, Oklahoma on January 12, 1923, the daughter of Feliciano Gutierrez and Lola Pal Gutierrez. She was married to Lawrence G. Serna in Emporia, Kansas in 1956. He preceded her in death in 2002. Survivors include one son, Bobby Fernendez, Olathe, Kansas; seven daughters, Joan Cedillo, Sonja Hernandez and Petra Fernandez all of Emporia; Debbie Serna, San Diego, California; Laura Watson, Duncanville, Texas; Mercedes and Annette Serna, both of Topeka; three step-daughters, Rita Dobrzynski, Fairlawn, New Jersey, Delores Zarazua, Bellwood, Illinois and Anita Mendoza, Brookfield, Illinois; one step-son, Larry Serna, Cooper City, Florida; two brothers, Joel and Pablo Gutierrez both in Emporia; thirty grandchildren, thirty-seven great-grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter. Mrs. Serna was preceded in death by three sisters, Frances Perez, Rebecca Delgado and Rachel Skalitzky and two brothers, Pete and Manuel Gutierrez. Louise Serna will be in repose at Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home after 2:00 o'clock Thursday afternoon where a parish rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday afternoon at 1:00 o'clock at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church. Interment will follow in Mount Calvary Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Midland Hospice Care, Inc. and sent in care of the funeral home, 800 West Sixth, Topeka 66603. Louise G.
