Woodward, Oklahoma, passed away Friday May 5, 1971, in the Woodward Memorial Hosptial after suffering a heart attack. She was a long time member of the Church of Christ. Funeral services for Mrs. Short were conducted Tuesday May 9, 1972 at 10:30 a.m. at Hillcrest Church of Christ, Woodward, with Don Laughary Minister of that church officiating. Burial was in the Fargo Cemetery, Fargo, Oklahoma, under the direction of the Stecher Mortuary. Casket bearers were Harvey Jividen, Kenneth Charmasso, Arnald Covalt, Howard Adams, Ernest Quickel, Dave Lochman. Mary Pearl Batchelor was born to L.J. and Fannie Batchelor July 27, 1894 at Gardener, Kansas. She moved with her family at the age of 6 to a farm 15 miles southwest of Woodward, Oklahoma where she grew to young womanhood. Mary was married to Otis G. Blann on April 2, 1910. To this union four sons and two daughters were bron. The family lived in Roger Mills County near Cheyenne from 1920 to 1932. On May 25, 1929, Otis Blann passed away. Mary was married to N.C. Short on February 3, 1932. They made their home in Woodward County, south of Tangier, Oklahoma. In 1971 they moved to Woodward in Woodward county. Besides Otis Blann, Mary was preceded in death by her parents, one son, Ray Blann, two brothers, Lonnie and Frank Batchelor and one sister, Minnie Batchelor Dare. Survivors are her husband N.C . Short, Woodward, Oklahoma; three sons, Lester Blann, Perris, California, John Blann, Williford, Arkansas and Dorral Blann, Millard, Nebraska; two daughters Mrs. Violet Blann Stricker, Woodward, Oklahoma, Mrs. Violas Blann Burns, Cheyenne, Oklahoma; one brother Bill Batchelor, Cheyenne, Oklahoma; three sisters, Mrs. Jennie King and Mrs. Irma Haven, Reydon, Oklahoma, Mrs. Myrtle McCune, Leavenworth, Kansas. Twenty three grandchildren, three of which the Shorts raised from childhood, CW2 Otis Dale Blann, stationed in Germany, Glenda Blann Aspin, Tempe, Arizona, and Terry W. Blann, St. Louis, Missouri. Twenty three great grandchildren, a host of nephews and nieces.
