All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ===================================================================== ::NOT LISTED Napa Valley Register Maralyn Sterling Sunday, September 14, 2003 ANGWIN Maralyn Iris Sterling, owner of RoseHaven, was born Nov. 2, 1934, in Caldwell, Idaho, and passed away Sept. 10, 2003. The seventh child of Simeon and Lettie Moore, Maralyn spent her early growing up years in Idaho, Oregon and Washington. After living in the Fresno area for two years, the family leased and later bought RoseHaven, then known as White's Rest Home. The family began their new career on Jan. 1, 1950. With her loving parents as her mentors, at the tender age of 15 Maralyn became an integral part of the family business. In 1956, Maralyn was married to Melvin Bunch of Woodward, Okla. She continued to assist her mother until 1958 when she, with her husband and little son, moved to Oklahoma to the family farm. Although not the farmer type, Maralyn would tackle anything from wrestling calves to driving a tractor to hauling sacks of grain. Her energies seemed unbounded. In 1968 she, with little Ronnie, returned to RoseHaven as a single parent, to take up duties as a faithful, loving care giver. On Aug. 4, 1974, she was married to Charles Sterling, who became RoseHaven's landscape artist and maintenance man. When her mother retired at 86 years of age, Maralyn was ready to take her place. Through the years she has been known for the tender, loving care that she gave to those entrusted to her. Service to others was her primary goal in life. She was a wonderful mother, loving wife, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Her life was one of service and her greatest desire was that she might recover and continue her ministry. That was not to be. Following a short battle with cancer, surrounded by a loving family, Maralyn quietly passed to her rest in the home of her son, Ronald Bunch, of Angwin. She is survived by her husband, Charles Sterling; son Ronald Bunch; stepdaughters Debbie Rayburn and Karen Winter; sisters Miriam Ross, Millicent Westmoreland, Marie Anderson and Marcia Spencer; brothers Leroy Moore and Paul Moore; eight grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Maralyn was a member of the ElmsHaven Seventh-day Adventist Church, on Woodland Road in Deer Park, where a memorial service will be held at 4 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 20, 2003. Following the service refreshments and memories will be shared at the Fireside room of the Pacific Union College Church in Angwin. In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to Hospice of Napa Valley, 3299 Claremont Way, Napa, CA 94558; or the charity of your choice. Funeral arrangements are being cared for by Morrison Funeral Chapel of St. Helena. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Return to Woodward County Archives: http://www.usgwarchives.net/ok/woodward/woodward.html
