"Sonny" Trent, 73 year old Woodward resident, died Friday, July 6, 2007 in the Newman Memorial Hospital in Shattuck. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 a.m. Monday, July 09, 2007 in the Lincoln Avenue Baptist Church with the Reverend Jason Dirks officiating. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday in the Red Hill Cemetery near Hammon, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma. Arrangements are under the direction of the Billings Funeral Home. Johnny Clyde Trent was born October 8, 1933 at home in Hammon, Oklahoma to Clyde and Bertha (Gilbreath) Trent. He was reared in the Hammon area and graduated from Hammon High School in 1952. J.C. was united in marriage to June Elaine Hughes of Hammon on February 28, 1953. To this union they were blessed with three children, Cheryl, Johnny, and Brenda. The family made their home in Hammon until 1970 when they moved to Woodward. J.C. worked as a brick mason and owned and operated a dairy for three years between Hammon and Cheyenne. J.C. managed the Woodward airport for a period of time. J.C. owned and operated Trent Trucking, leasing to Bob Cudd of Pressure Control from the late 1970's to the mid 1980's. He spent seasons commerical fishing in Alaska in the late 1980's. He is survived by his wife June Trent, son Johnny and wife Karen of Elk City; Brenda Kornele and husband Kenny of Woodward; nine grandchildren Misty Smith, Chad Jopling and wife Crystal, Shane Jopling, Felecia Trent, Christopher Lee Trent, Kevin Gray, Brandon and Jennifer Kornele, Kendra Estep and husband Derek, and Kassey Kornele; 11 great grandchildren; one sister Juanita Trout of Elk City; one brother ob Trent and wife Mary of Edmond; other relatives and many good friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and four sisters, Dorothy Jean, Alma Lee Hansen, June Page and Pauline Cates. Memorial contributions may be made to the Lincoln Avenue Baptist Church with the funeral home accepting the contributions.
