All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ===================================================================== ::Elmwood Cemetery--Woodward OK Welsch, Esther Mae Wares Esther Mae Wares Welsch, age 82, died August 15, 2002 in Oklahoma City at Mercy Hospital. Memorial services will be held in Oklahoma City, followed by graveside services in Woodward, Labor Day weekend. Esther Mae (Wares) Welsch was born on her parents farm near Coldwater, Kansas, May 1, 1920 to Delbert Armester and Georgiana Elizabeth (Strimple) Wares. She grew up happy in a farming community with her brother, Warren, and her parents. Esther attended Mound Ridge, a one room neighborhood school, then attended Freedom High School in Freedom, Oklahoma. In the fall of 1937, she attended Wichita Business College in Wichita, Kansas, then went to work at the Woods County Abstract Company in Alva, Oklahoma. Esther was married to George Wilmer (Jack) Welsch January 4, 1942 by The Reverend George Parkhurst in Alva, OK. They established the first of many homes in Ponca City, OK. After World War II the Welsch's moved to Woodward, OK. Esther's husband's career in aviation took them to many interesting places, including Guymon, Woodward and Oklahoma City, OK; as well as Joplin, Missouri; Glen Burnie, Maryland and Memphis, Tennessee. Esther is survived by a daughter, Janet Welsch, San Antonio, Texas; and sons, George, and wife, Jennifer, Cornelius, North Carolina; John, and wife, Leslie, Knoxville, Tennessee grandchildren, Lorraine Gayle Fiel, Woodward, Oklahoma; Amy Elizabeth Innes, and husband, Bill, Seguin, Texas; Sean Welsch and wife, Liz, Memphis, Tennessee: Andrew and Michael Welsch, Cornelius, North Carolina; and Clare and Thomas Welsch, Knoxville, Tennessee; great- grandchildren, Emily, Rachel and Caitlin Innes, Seguin, Texas, and Jessica and Sarah Welsch, Memphis, Tennessee; her brother and sister- in-law, Warren and Betty Wares, Pharr, Texas; brother-in law and sister-in-law, Glenn and Irma Welsch, Austin, Texas; and several cousins, nieces and nephews. Esther was preceded in death by her husband, George Wilmer (Jack) Welsch, her parents, and a granddaughter, Melissa Marie Welsch. A memorial service will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 31, 2002 at the Convocation Room at Epworth Villa, 14901 N. Pennsylvania, Oklahoma City, OK.
