Services were at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday in Shaw Memorial Chapel at Vici, Okla. Burial was in Vassar Cemetery. Mr. West was born in Canadian. He worked in the heavy construction business, building tunnels throughout the United States and other parts of the world. He was a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local No. 12. He married Minnie Jonkers in 1931 at Plankinton, S.D. She preceded him in death. After his wife's death, Mr. West moved to Woodward, Okla., where he lived until moving to Amarillo in March. Survivors include two nephews and two nieces, including Marlene B. Knapp of Amarillo; and a special friend, Naomi Derrick of Woodward, Okla. The family requests memorials be to Baptist St. Anthony's Hospice and Life Enrichment Center, P.O. Box 950, Amarillo, Texas 79176; or a favorite charity.
