Co. of Chicago. page 357 Alexander Mc Pherson This energetic and progressive farmer and stock raiser of the vicinity of Bridgetport is a native of Ontario, Canada, and he possesses in a full mesaure the thrift, resourcefulness and other qualities of good citizenship for which the sons of that province are noted. An early pioneer of Baker county, he has, during all the years of his residence here, so conducted himself as to win the confidence and good will of the people with whom he has been thrown in contact, and his standing int he community in which he lives is certanly a very enviable one. Mr. Mc Pherson grew to man's estate on the farm of his parents, Donald and Catherine McPherson, but as soon as his legal majority had been attained he came out to Baker county and began seeking his fortune in the mining regions o fthis section. After two years' experience he began dividing his time between that search and farming, and he carried on this dual occupation in different parts of the county until 1881, when he settled on a three hundred and twenty acre farm three miles west of Bridgeport. To the cultivation and improvement of this he has given himself assiduously since, and as the meed of his hard and painstaking labor he now has a very excellent place, with fine home and comfortable environs. He has a large herd of very choice graded Shorthorn cattle, and also a drove of horses. In fraternal affiliations our subjet is a member of Malheur City Lodge, No. 111, of the W. of W., and of the Baker City lodge of the Knights of Pythias, and he formerly belonged to the lodge of Odd Fellows at Malheur City, which surrendered its charter. On January 1, 1889, he married Miss Euphea, daughter of Andrew Eblen, and a native of Kentucky, and to their union three children have been born, Donald, Alexander, and Catherine G.
